How to measure screen door size.
Measure from the top of the track at one end of the door down to the threshold on the ground with a tape measure.
The spline size should match the spline groove width when using standard fiberglass or aluminum screening or when repairing a damaged screen with the same material.
If your door sill is slanted measure to the lowest part of the sill that will rest beneath the screen door.
Measure the opening height vertically.
Measure the opening width horizontally as shown below.
If your old patio screen door is available simply measure the length and width outside edge to edge and give us those measurements.
Measure the frame s width in 3 places.
For example if your smallest width measurement was 36 inches 91 4 cm and your smallest height measurement was 80 inches 203 2 cm then you would write 36 x 80.
Take the smallest measurements from the door width and door height and write them in width x height format.
Starting on the left side measure from the inside edge of trim c blue to the top of the door sill green where you d expect the screen door and sill to meet.
Measure the spline groove on the screen frame.
Write down the measurement.
For instance a screen door that says it measures 34 inches can fit frames that measure around 33 875 inches and up to 34 375 inches on average.
Measure the height again from the sill to the underside of the door frame about 6 inches from the opposite doorjamb in case the frame isn t true.
Write down the measurement.
Note the shortest result as the height measurement for the screen door.
Extend the tape measure from the sill at the bottom of the inside of the door frame to the top inside of the exterior door trim.
Try to be as accurate as possible.
Take three measurements one across the top middle and bottom of the door a b c.
Height measurements may vary a few inches as well.
If your sliding screen doors are missing determine width by measuring from inside of side jamb to center of stile on opposite side just short of where the stationary glass begins.
Hold the measuring tape inside the door frame about 6 inches 15 cm from the top and pull it across to the opposite side.
Estimate the door measurements.
Move halfway down the opening and measure again.
